Founder Arjun Paul seen pitching Kerala-based Zoko.io – a web App that helps businesses jump revenue by also selling via messaging Apps like WhatsApp and Messenger @ Lounge47.
“The Internet of India is not the Internet as we know it, it’s the messaging Apps like WhatsApp and Messenger!”, says Arjun. He was on an overnight bus ride in India when he came to this realization. Everybody around was glued to their Smartphones and mostly on WhatpsApp and Messenger. Convinced that messaging was going to be the next big e-commerce platform, Arjun quit his job in Switzerland and moved to India to validate the business model he had in mind.
He managed to convince California resident Forrest Hatfield to be his cofounder. Forest who Arjun calls “a wizard of APIs” has two previous startups under his belt. Arjun an INSEAD MBA graduate and Forrest have big dreams. They plan to follow the path of other INSEAD startups like Skype, TransferWise, Bla Bla Car and Ixigo.
