Connecting Ideas With Money: Junius D’silva – Surge Mobility – KStart [a Kalaari Capital initiative]

Founder Junius D’silva pitching very early-stage startup Surge Mobility – that plans to offer an e-cycle service.

“The public bicycle sharing program has been well received world over. Problem is, cycling is tiring. You sweat. By the time you’re done, your pressed clothes don’t look so pressed after all. So why don’t we electrify this? Electric cycles have been gaining momentum of late, with Uber even taking over Jump Bikes, an ebike sharing company, for $220m. Electric bikes are the solution to our traffic woes and pollution problems. Cycle sharing promotes public transport usage and of course, it’s good for your health. Offering a service where people use electric bikes for their last mile connectivity at a low price of Rs.8 would mean, people would swarm to get a try our cycles out. I believe that my idea can encourage people to take up public transportation and not (mis)use their gas guzzling vehicles, even for the shortest of distances,” says the passionate founder, Junius.
