“Financial inclusion is restricted to providing loans and not educating and empowering rural markets on savings and investment. 60 percent of total savings bank deposits are done in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. We find a huge opportunity in exploring this market,” says Venkatesh.
“We started as a boutique wealth management firm….did many workshops for doctors on money management. In a place called Pollachi near Coimbatore post workshop we got a one-to-one meeting with a doctor where he discussed about his investments. He was investing 10 lakhs a year in Jeevan Anand scheme of LIC which will not fetch 4 percentage returns and 25 lakhs life cover…for him quality service is an agent that comes and collects the check on time and gives receipts on time. We did some number crunching and made him understand that he is not getting good returns and is under insured. We convinced him to book a loss of 20 lakhs, discontinue the policy and invest in mutual funds for returns and a pure term plan for life cover.”
