Founder Nithya Sudhir pitches Wearit, a location-based one-stop shop apparel ordering and delivery platform, that brings together independent retail shops, designer boutiques, and brand retail stores under one ‘virtual’ roof.
Based out of Bangalore, Wearit plans to enable it’s customers to browse through, checkout and order their favorites clothes, and own it within an hour! The Startup is at the idea stage and seeking funding to take the idea forward.
“My partner and I met at my first organization which was in Koramangala. We both are into marketing, branding, and design and have worked together and independently on various advertising projects. We often went shopping in and around Koramangala and Indiranagar, since we were both into fashion,” says Nithya. “But being bachelors and broke back then, we would find thrift stores to quench our thirst. But to our surprise, these stores had an amazing collection of clothing and accessories. That was the start of this journey. A few years later, we both happened to find the same case in HSR and surrounding areas – there were really good stores selling khadi and cotton and no one was aware – since they were not branded.”
After their research, the founders understood that Indian garment retailers were experiencing a load of challenges. Despite being cheap, easy, and nearby, these stores were suffering a loss mainly due to the lack of technological adoption and marketing awareness. The team wanted to bring these retailers back into business by giving them a platform to showcase their products and help them build a deeper connection with their audience. At the same time, they also realized that a shopper in India had only two options – either to wait for at least two days to get their choice of clothing on ecommerce stores, or to pay a high subscription fee for fewer options and 1-day delivery.
They recognized that something had to be done….
The founders Nithya Sudhir and Sayandeep Bose, both had a background in Marketing and Design and so decided to create Wearit. After deciding to validate the idea, Nitya put it up on a startup community website and went to sleep. In the morning her mailbox was flooded with opinions and recommendations. That’s when the team decided to get a little more serious. They registered for eSamudaays Kamaalke10 competition and were recognized as one in Top 10 Women Entrepreneurs in India.
Please comment or reach out to the founders if you can help them take their idea forward – ideas and money welcome!
