At the Connecting Ideas With Money session held on the 17th of June, 2022, founder Anup Ganguly pitched Farmology – a platform with an Android App to help farmers double their revenues sustainably, using patent-pending technologies, to provide reliable crop advisory through AI/ML, soil testing through a novel IoT device, crop health monitoring; weather advisories driven by regular satellite imagery of the farms with the resultant organic agri-inputs.
Farmology makes agritech accessible and affordable to Indian farmers. The startup reports that it has achieved product-market fit for their in-house Agri-inputs on various crops in farmers’ crop lifecycle expenses, validated the Farmology business model offline and launched the MVP app within 8 months, got the 1st 1000 installs within 3 months, tied up with 6 input manufacturers to improve our product offering, completed the agri value chain by connecting farmers to farm-2-fork companies like BigBasket, Delybazar into a full-stack model, launched their crop health feature where they are using satellite tech and local weather to prevent effects of climate change.
The startup identified that farmers are indispensable, but invisible in the marketplace due to a lack of actionable information, reliable crop advisory solution services for farmers in rural areas, that lead to overspending on agri-inputs for a good harvest, and heavy dependence on local dealers and fellow farmers as a primary influence for problem diagnosis and resultant agri-inputs.
They then came up with a solution that is a tech-enabled crop advisory solution that assists farmers to diagnose and treat crop issues:
- Knowledge: A mobile platform for farmers to identify crop-related problems and get unbiased solutions
- Soil & Crop health: Sustainable agri-inputs for soil quality and higher yield-climate resilience
