At the Connecting Ideas With Money session on the 12th of November, 2022 founder Nadeem Mohammed Shajahan pitched Bangalore-based Avem Systems – an early-stage startup in the aerospace domain.
“Our idea is to leverage the power of Artificial Intelligence and Swarm Robotics in emergency response management. We use this to optimize the collaborative operation of robots along with humans. The aim is to slowly shift from a ‘Human led emergency response’ effort into a ‘Human-monitored machine-led emergency response’ effort,” says Nadeem. “
“The challenges associated with any urban search and rescue mission can be broadly listed as i) Threat to human life and ii) Damage to property. These can be mitigated by proper advancements in i) rescue technology used ii) decreasing the response time iii) real time actionable data.”
Nadeem got the idea for the startup when he had a close encounter with a fire at a Dubai hotel during the 2016 New Years Eve celebrations. He felt that the operation could have been more successful if the agents had more information.
“Our system is being designed to redefine the way people see emergency response, from a highly risky process with huge collateral damage to a highly efficient tech-first process. The number of rescue officers that can benefit from this system is huge, such as better working conditions, lower exposure to high-risk situations and lower threat to life,” says Nadeem.
Their team is comprised of young innovators with multi-disciplinary but complementing skillsets to solve problems using advanced technologies. They have Deep Learning & AI, Robotics Systems Development, UAV Design and Simulation, Business Analytics and Data Science expertise and work for leading companies in Bangalore.
