At the Connecting Ideas With Money session held on the 22nd of December, 2022 founder Anvit Kumar pitched Crude Origins – an omni-channel retail and distribution platform for Indian D2C – an early stage Bangalore based startup. They source/supply/sell/distribute the latest and popular D2C brands in the FMCG/consumer goods domain via their retail storefront, online marketplace platform and distribution network.

“The problem we address is on two fronts….on the brand front and the consumer front. On the brand front there is a high cost of product placement in retail outlets, high cost of marketing, low market penetration, product awareness which offsets scalability. On the customer front…. lack of product awareness, look and feel factor is missing and low trust in brand,” says Anvit.

“We are tackling the problem with our omni channel approach…company operated store, marketplace online platform and sales and distribution network, wherein we are fixated on the Indian D2C brands which are selected based on our 5-point metric.”

The startup was driven by a love to try and explore new products was how it was conceptualized. Their passion was further propelled by a rapid growth in the D2C segment. Their startup journey started a year ago and the team has catalogued 200+ brands with 3000+ products.
