At the Connecting Ideas With Money session that took place on the 10th of March, 2023 founder J Vishnu Shankar pitched Athlesters – the startup is focused on the private sports club market in India and more specifically on aggregating the highly fragmented sports club market under a national brand.

“India has about 8000-10000 private sports clubs…venues each run in proprietorship or partnership model. Each of these owner-managers struggle with day-to-day operations, sales, marketing, upkeep …… we want to aggregate these under our brand Athlesters and run them professionally,” says Vishnu.
“The model will be lease and operate…it is an asset-light model in which we lease a sports venue paying fixed monthly rents to the owners and operate it with our team. We are not just another ticketing platform…we will be a full-service player.”
The startup is 3 months old and has these highlights:
– operating one club in Bangalore – 1st Jan 2023.
– operating second club in Bangalore – 17th March 2023
– operating two more clubs before April 30th 2023
– plan to lease total of 30 clubs during 2023
– startup is post revenue
