At the Connecting Ideas With Money session that took place on the 10th of March, 2023 founder Vishal Pratik pitched Makenica Inc. – a Bangalore-based startup that calls itself the “AWS for hardware startups”. They enable easy cloud manufacturing, allowing hardware companies to start manufacturing within a matter of seconds rather than weeks. The startup has developed a proprietary digital manufacturing platform that connects pre-vetted manufacturers with product companies.

“Makenica is solving a multi-faceted problem that haunts manufacturers and buyers alike. Buyers spend countless hours trying to find a reliable manufacturer who can deliver precise parts on time. On the other hand, manufacturers are looking to maximize their limited manufacturing capabilities. The trust gap due to specialization of materials, processes, regional and geographical differences couldn’t have been bigger,” says Vishal.
“Buyers can see instant quotes for various processes, without compromising the protection of their designs, or without making hundred’s of calls to unknown manufacturers requesting for manual quotes. Manufacturers are thrilled because their capacity is utilized to a maximum and their payments are held in escrow until the order completes.
The startup reports to have served over 3000 clients that includes customers like of Apple, Ather, Ola, Tata. The startup is post revenue and scaling.
The founders encountered the challenges of scale with manufacturing, when executing on a previous hardware product development idea. They therefore decided to start Makenica, to solve this problem faced by other founders and also with the larger vision of powering the maker revolution in India.

The founding team comprises of serial entrepreneurs who have stayed together through thick and thin for 10+ years firstly as college roommates then as business partners. They have bootstrapped various companies across marketing, advertising, product development that the team reports to have exited.
